Questions and Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy often feels like adding one more thing to an already full plate. To help make the process a bit clearer, I’ve answered some of the most common questions I receive about the logistics, the consultation process, and what it’s actually like to work together.

Both Social Workers (MSW) and Psychologists utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities to support emotional health and wellbeing. Both profession's services are typically covered by private healthcare plans. Social workers offer therapy that uniquely considers broader social factors- including relationships, community, and systemic influences. Psychologists can provide formalized mental health assessment and diagnoses.

As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), my services are covered by most extended health benefit plans in Ontario. While I do not direct bill to insurance, I will provide invoices that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Invoices will be provided directly following your sessions. I recommend checking with your provider in advance to confirm that your plan includes coverage for Social Work or Psychotherapy services.

Yes. My stated age range operates as a general guide to provide insight into my area of clinical expertise. On occasion, I work with individuals who are younger or older than the stated age range and this largely depends on the presenting concerns/goals of the client. I'm always happy to meet for a complimentary consultation to determine therapeutic fit.

It is a brief, low-pressure phone call to discuss what is bringing you to therapy and to see if my approach is the right fit for you. It’s an opportunity to ask questions before committing to a full session.assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health conditions. Social workers offer therapy that uniquely considers broader social factors- including relationships, community, and systemic influences.  Both Psychologists and Social workers utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities in treatment.

I offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments for individuals who may benefit from reduced fees. These sessions are available at specific times and within a mutually agreed-upon framework. While all sliding scale spots are currently full, you’re welcome to indicate your interest to be added to the waitlist.

We’ll decide on the frequency of sessions together, based on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive. Many clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, but we’ll tailor the schedule to best fit your circumstances and ensure meaningful progress.

Not at all. Many clients reach out because they simply want a dedicated space to slow down and reflect, feel that something's "not quite right" even if they can't put their finger on what it is, or utilize therapy as a proactive and preventative approach to supporting their overall wellness.
